Ian Cathro has promised to bring attacking football to Estoril after the former Hearts boss was confirmed as manager of the Portuguese club.

The Scot took charge of his first club as manager since his unhappy seven-month stint at Tynecastle seven years ago in a surprise move.

Cathro was mentored by current Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo and was No.2 to him in his last spell in Portuguese football... at Rio Ave ten years ago.

Since then, he's also worked with Nuno at Spurs and Wolves, before moving to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad two years ago as a coach, until he left last year.

And Cathro is looking forward to getting started with Estoril, who finished 14th last season.

He said: "The first impressions I have of the club are very good.

"I feel that it is a club full of desire to grow, to improve and who are ambitious. I am happy to be here and want to play my part in the process.

"In the coming weeks, we have a lot of work to do and I believe we will be very well prepared for when the new league season starts.

"A word to the fans... I want to bring energy to this team. That's what they are going to see - an attacking team full of energy."
