Heart of Midlothian make the short trip to Falkirk for Saturday's Premier Sports Cup last-16 tie with the Championship side.

Steven Naismith's men will be looking to pick up their first win of the campaign after picking up one point from their first two Scottish Premiership fixtures. The team followed up the opening-day draw with Rangers by losing 3-1 at Dundee.

Hearts will come up against the club's former boss John McGlynn. They travel to the Falkirk Stadium for the first time in more than four years when they met the Bairns in a Scottish Cup tie. The team will be backed by a big travelling with the club confirming they had sold out their allocation for the match.

The game will be the last before Hearts head to Czechia to face Viktoria Plzen in the first-leg of the Europa League play-off tie.

Here is everything you need to know about the match:

Who: Falkirk v Heart of Midlothian

What: Premier Sports Cup

Where: Falkirk Stadium, Falkirk

When: Saturday, August 17. Kick-off: 3pm.

Last meeting

Falkirk 0 - 1 Hearts: The fixture came in the Scottish Cup last-16 in 2020. Sean Clare's penalty proved the difference in difficult conditions while the home side hit the woodwork three times.

Is the game on TV?

The fixture won't be broadcast live on television with Premier Sports picking the two games involving the Old Firm - Rangers v St Johnstone and Celtic v Hibs - but Hearts fans are still able to watch the game...

How to watch

As part of the broadcast deal with Premier Sports, all of the quarter-final ties will be available to watch via Premier Sports' matchday pass on their streaming service via premiersports.com. It does require a subscription.

Are Hearts missing any players?

Naismith will be without Frankie Kent with the player suffering from a toe infection. He joins Beni Baningime and Calem Nieuwenhof on the absent list. The Hearts manager confirmed earlier this month that the midfielders are expected to be out until the international break next month. New signing Andres Salazar is available.

What Steven Naismith said:

“I watched quite a bit of Falkirk last season just with some of our players out on loan and they're really impressive. The recruitment is really good, the type of player they've signed, and they're similar to his Raith team from a few years back as well. We know it will be really tough, we know what we're going up against and we need to be ready for it."

Falkirk team news

The Bairns will be without former Hearts youngster Callumn Morrison. The forward is one of the team's best players but is suspended for the fixture having picked up two bookings in the group stage. McGlynn said it may be a blessing as the player has had an issue with his knee.

What John McGlynn said:

"When you've been at a club it's nice to play them and it's nice to play them here which will maybe give us a little bit more of an advantage. It's astro-turf, the pitch is a little bit bigger than Tynecastle and we're used to playing on it and I think these things stack up in our favour."

Referee

David Dickinson will be the man in the middle. There will be no VAR in operation due to the game taking place at a non-Premiership ground.
