Heart of Midlothian are awaiting the results of a scan on defender Nathaniel Atkinson's ankle after the Australia internationalist was stretchered off in Saturday's 1-0 defeat awy to St Mirren - but the Tynecastle side will be boosted by the return of utility player Andy Halliday for tomorrow's trip to Ayrshire.

Atkinson landed awkwardly after colliding with Scott Tanser shortly before half-time in Paisley, requiring treatment on the pitch before having to be carried off by the Hearts medical team.

Steven Naismith remains unsure of the severity of the injury to the right-back as he prepares to undergo a scan on Monday, but the head coach was pleased to announce the return of Halliday as he met the press ahead of Tuesday's visit to Kilmarnock on Viaplay Cup duty.

"Natty Atkinson won’t be involved," Naismith told Hearts TV. "He should be getting a scan at some point today [Monday].

"He is probably the only one that’s come out [of the squad] from the weekend’s game.

"Andy Halliday has come back into the group as well, so that’s a bonus for us."

Meanwhile, central midfielder Cammy Devlin has signed a one-year extension that will keep the Australian at Tynecastle until the summer of 2025.

"It’s great news that Cammy will be a Hearts player beyond the end of this season," Naismith told the club's website.

"It shouldn’t be underestimated how difficult it is for a young player to move to the other side of the world and adapt to a different style of football as well as a different way of life.

"But it’s to Cammy’s credit that he’s done it seamlessly. He gets the club, gets the expectations of playing for Hearts and he thrives on it.

"He’s always improving and I’m excited to see just how far he push himself, and the team, forward."

Sporting director Joe Savage added: "Cammy’s made a huge impact since we brought him to the club so it really was a no-brainer to activate our year’s option on his contract.

"He never gives anything less than 100% on the pitch, and his performances for Hearts got him to a World Cup.

"I know he’s a fans’ favourite so I’m sure they’ll be as happy as we are that he will be a Hearts player for even longer.

"Cammy and the club have been good for each other so we’ll sit down in the near future and hopefully open talks about a brand new deal."
