Heart of Midlothian will face Rangers in the Viaplay Cup semi-final with the game scheduled for the weekend of November 4/5.

Steven Naismith's men progressed into the last four with a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Tuesday night. Jorge Grant had given the visitors a first-half lead but Brad Lyons headed an equaliser after the break. With the game heading for extra-time, Alex Lowry stepped off the bench to net an injury-time winner.

The club confirmed on Wednesday that the scheduled league game against Dundee will be rearranged.

Semi-final opponents Rangers advanced after a 4-0 win over Livingston on Wednesday night.

It will be Hearts' third semi-final appearance in the last five seasons. The previous two have ended in 3-0 defeats to Celtic and Rangers. In the former, head coach Naismith was replaced early on in the game for Danny Amankwaa after picking up an injury. The club have not won the competition since 1962 and last played in a final in 2013.

Naismith has spoken of the club needing to win trophies and be more successful.

"The hard part for the players is that there is a demand at this club," Naismith said after the match. "Me as a player grew to enjoy that feeling, understand it. It's the biggest challenge for any player at Hearts. The demand is there. You either accept it or try to use it to your advantage, or you'll not make it at the club. That's simply it. I think we've got some really good footballers who can bring success."

Hearts are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Dingwall to face Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.
