Hearts and Hibs met on the final day of last season as the Maroons confirmed fourth spot ahead of their city rivals with a draw despite playing the majority of the match with ten men. Tempers boiled over after full-time with scuffles in the centre circle on the Tynecastle pitch. It led to four sending offs with former Hibs boss Lee Johnson and centre-back Rocky Bushiri being shown red cards, as well as ex-Hearts goalkeeper Ross Stewart and current goalkeeper coach Paul Gallacher. The capital clubs were hit with fines by the Scottish FA in June following a notice of complaint.

This will be Collum's first Edinburgh derby since the Scottish Cup semi-final in 2020 which was played behind closed doors in October. Hearts ran out 2-1 winners at Hampden Park following extra-time.

Saturday's match will kick-off at 3pm having not been selected for live coverage by the Premiership's official broadcaster Sky Sports.
