Heart of Midlothian forward Kenneth Vargas netted for Costa Rica Under-23s in a 3-2 win over Colombia in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

It was the 21-year-old's second goal in the space of the week for his country's Under-23s, having done so in their first friendly with the Colombians.

His most recent strike was an impressive strike with his right foot across the goalkeeper from inside the box.

His first goal over the weekend saw him run onto a through ball before calmly dinking it over the goalkeeper.

Vargas' goals were part of a successful international break for Hearts players. Zander Clark won his first cap for Scotland, coming on as substitute after the interval in the country's 4-1 loss to France. The goalkeeper became the 140th player to win an international cap while playing for the club.

Earlier in the evening Alex Lowry netted a penalty in Scotland Under-21s' 2-1 win over Malta in the Euro 2025 qualifier at Fir Park. He didn't feature in the win over Hungary. Lewis Neilson played in both but Aidan Denholm on the bench for both fixtures.

Meanwhile, Kye Rowles played 83 minutes of Australia's 1-0 loss to England on Friday but was an unused substitute in the 2-0 win over New Zealand on Tuesday.
