The Edinburgh derby between Hearts and Hibs next month has been snubbed by broadcasters.

The Tynecastle clash, a 7.45pm kick-off on February 28, will not receive Sky Sports coverage.

Instead, the broadcaster will cover the match between Livingston and Motherwell on the same night.

The match between Ross County and St Mirren the night before will also be shown live on Sky Sports.

However, despite the last match between the Edinburgh rivals being broadcast live, the next meeting will see a TV blackout.

The selection snub means just one of the previous six Edinburgh derbies, including in February, will have been broadcast live on television.

In the same week, however, Sky Sports cameras will pitch up at Tynecastle to cover the match against Celtic on Sunday, March 3.

That decision takes the total matches broadcast from Tynecastle to three - with Sky Sports allowed to cover four matches at each Scottish Premiership ground per season.

It leaves just one more Tynecastle slot for the remainder of the season.

And reports have suggested Sky chiefs would prefer to keep a Tynecastle visit free should a repeat of last season occur and a potential title party land on a matchday in Gorgie.

The Daily Record claims chiefs are "frustrated" with the broadcasting restrictions which have led to decisions between matches.
