Heart of Midlothian star Kenneth Vargas could be set for a meeting with Brazil in this summer's Copa America.

The 22-year-old has earned a call-up to the Costa Rican national team for their fixtures ahead of the tournament. 

Vargas, who has been back in his homeland spending time with family, will join up with the squad for the training camp before a friendly with Uruguay at the end of the month followed by World Cup qualifiers against Saint Kitts and Nevis and then Grenada.

The aim will be to make the final squad when it is announced ahead of the tournament which is being held in the United States. Costa Rica have been drawn in a group with five-time World Cup winners Brazil as well as Colombia and Paraguay.

If he makes the squad he could come up against the likes of Marquinhos, Eder Militao, Gabriel and Davinson Sanchez.

Since moving to Hearts from CS Herediano, in a loan move that has been turned permanent, Vargas has made his debut for Costa Rica and has added three further caps. 

The forward has emerged as a fan favourite at Tynecastle Park and become an important member of Steven Naismith's first-team. He finished the campaign with nine goals and four assists.

June 6 - Costa Riva v Saint Kitts and Nevis (World Cup qualifier)

June 9 - Grenada v Costa Rica (World Cup qualifier)

June 24 - Brazil v Costa Rica (Copa America)

June 28 - Colombia v Costa Rica (Copa America)

July 2 - Costa Rica v Paraguay (Copa America)
