Heart of Midlothian have announced their second summer signing with the arrival of goalkeeper Ryan Fulton.

The 28-year-old joins the club on a free contract, signing a two-year deal, after seven seasons with Hamilton Academical which included 38 games in the Premiership.

Fulton, who began his career with Liverpool and played for Scotland Under-21s, has been added to the goalkeeping ranks to provide depth and compete with Zander Clark and Craig Gordon.

His arrival has allowed Harry Stone to go on loan to Championship side Ayr United with Liam McFarlane also likely to leave on loan to gain further experience.

“Ryan is a great professional and will fit in really well in the dressing room," Steven Naismith told the club's official site. “He knows the Scottish game inside out having spent seven years up here and has played in the top flight.

“When you consider he came through the ranks at Liverpool and has played down south and for Scotland U21s, then it gives you a picture of the wealth of experience he has.

“Ryan’s not coming in to just make up the numbers. He’s a driven and determined guy who wants to push himself as far as he can, so to have him working alongside Craig Gordon and Zander Clark is going to be a big positive for the club.

“What this also allows us to do is give our younger goalkeeping prospects, who we rate very highly, the opportunity to go out on loan and gain more first team minutes.”
