The 2024/25 campaign is one step closer following the release of the Premiership fixtures. Heart of Midlothian will start the season with a home clash with Rangers, a game that will be shown live on Sky Sports.

It is set to be a hectic season for Hearts with potentially more than 50 matches between August and next May, including at least eight European matches.

With that, here is all Hearts fans need to know after the fixture release:

Friendly matches

So far Hearts have confirmed three friendlies ahead of the new season. The team will play Leyton Orient on July 13 at Tynecastle Park. They will travel to face Fleetwood Town on July 27. Between those fixtures, they will host Tottenham Hotspur on July 17.

Premiership schedule

For the 10th time in the club's history, they will start the season against Rangers. It is the third time in the last four campaigns that Hearts have started with a home match. This fixture will be the first of the 2024/25 Premiership season on August 3, kicking off at 12.30pm and live on Sky Sports.

Hearts will face Dundee at Dens Park the following week, this time at 5.30pm on Premier Sports. The league campaign then takes a small pause for the second round of the League Cup.

The Edinburgh derbies are pencilled in for October 26, December 26 and March 1. The middle of those matches will be shown on Sky Sports.

The final post-split fixture is on April 12 at Motherwell.

TV deal

So far, Hearts have three games selected for live coverage from the league's broadcast partners Sky Sports and Premier Sports.

This is the first season of the new TV deal. Sky Sports can show up to 60 live games each season with Premier Sports recently agreeing a deal worth eight figures to show up to 20 live games each season for the next five years.

In addition, the number of games that can be broadcast live from each Premiership ground has increased to five from four.

Expect Hearts to be on the television even more.

European games

An important part of the club's announcement of the fixtures centred around the European games.

"Supporters should also be mindful that due to the Jam Tarts’ participation in Europe, with group stage football guaranteed, many of the domestic Saturday fixtures will change to Sunday but will not be confirmed until the relevant UEFA draws," it read.

Hearts will compete in the Europa League play-off. Should they win the two-legged tie and progress to the Europa League they will play eight further fixtures in the league phase. If they drop into the Conference League it will be a further six fixtures.

It means a number of the club's matches will have to be moved. We should be stressed the following is NOT confirmed but these are Premiership fixtures that are scheduled for the Saturday after the team play in Europe. These will likely be moved to a Sunday (or possibly Monday for TV). But again, NOT set in stone.

As we can see, Hearts don't have it easy with a lot of the fixtures after Europe.

Winter break

Short answer: There won't be one.

The SPFL revealed earlier this year that because of the new format of European football, there would be no winter break.

A statement said: "The expansion of the UEFA club competitions – the league phase of the Champions League and Europa League each run until the end of January – exerts additional pressure on the domestic calendar and means there will be no scheduled Premiership winter break in season 2024/25."

International breaks

There will be three international breaks during the first half of the season with Scotland playing Nations League fixtures in September, October and November.
