Heart of Midlothian have had "no contact" from any club regarding any player, including Lawrence Shankland.

The club's top scorer over the past two seasons has been linked with Rangers in recent weeks but, as revealed by Hearts Standard, there has been no approach for the striker.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the meeting between the clubs in the Scottish Premiership season opener on Saturday, Steven Naismith said there was "no change" in the situation.

"All these reports coming out, every avenue we've went down," he said. "He's leaving, he's maybe leaving, he's on a list, he's no on a list. We've had no conversations for any players.

"There was a conversation with Alex Cochrane that then develops into something that is serious, the deal gets done because everyone is satisfied with it.

"We've had no information, no contact with anybody for any other player at the club."

Naismith praised Shankland for his ability to handle the speculation.

"One of the biggest things you could praise Lawrence for last season was all that speculation goes on and on, some players can deal with it, some can't," he said. "Shanks last season done it and the last two seasons he's consistently scored goals and been a leader and become the best player in Scotland last season.

"His target now is to continue that on and have another successful season."
