Heart of Midlothian have confirmed Stephen Kingsley has signed a contract extension.

The 30-year-old has signed a three-year deal which will keep him at Tynecastle Park until 2027 at least.

Kingsely has been an important player for the club since joining in October 2020 as Hearts embarked on a season in the Scottish Championship. He has since gone on to make 144 games appearances. Of the current squad only Craig Gordon has made more games for the club and Kingsley could reach the 150 milestone by the end of the month.

The defednder has played a vital role in the team's return to the Scottish Premiership and the subsequent three consecutive European qualifications. During that time he has played in a variety of defensive roles.

Hearts head coach Steven Naismith believes Kingsley "ticks loads of boxes" and can "help drive standards" at the club.

"Stephen's more than earned this new contract," he told the club's website. "He ticks loads of boxes for Hearts. He's experienced, he's played internationally, and he's got a level of consistency and performance. I'm delighted we've got it sorted and, to be honest, it was an easy one to do. 

"He understands what the club can give him in his life, and we get a fantastic professional who can help drive standards as we look to progress."
