Steven Naismith admitted he "got some things wrong" in Heart of Midlothian's 3-1 loss at Dundee on Saturday.

Hearts found themselves 3-0 at half time of the Saturday evening clash, prompting the head coach to make a triple substitution and a switch of formation at the interval.

"Last week was disappointing," he said. "From looking back at it, I think I got some things wrong and that's probably the biggest thing that made it tough for the players.

"The energy levels and the intensity was the bit that I was putting on the players and that's not changed but I could have helped them out a bit more."

He added: "This weekend, with it being a different competition, it is different. Last season we got to two semi-finals and we want to take the steps to give ourselves to get back to at least that stage."

While not divulging exactly what went wrong, Naismith noted he will "learn from my mistakes".

"That's what I'll do from that," he said. "As a young coach, I'm going to make mistakes. On my part, I made a couple last week and, yeah, I need to learn from that."
