Heart of Midlothian's European squad for the Conference League has been confirmed.

UEFA have posted the squad list on its official site and, as expected, three first-team players miss out.

Calem Nieuwenhof, Musa Drammeh and Ryan Fulton have not been registered while a host of the club's young players form part of the club's B list of players under the age of 21. Andres Salazar and Beni Baningime are named having missed out on the squad for the Europa League play-off with Viktoria Plzen.

The Australian player's absence is the big surprise. However, he has been out injured since sustaining an injury in the win over Celtic at Tynecastle Park in March.

Steven Naismith provided an update on Nieuwenhof at the end of August.

"Calem is a wee bit behind [Beni Baningime[], he's still doing individual stuff on the grass but he's on the grass," he said. "Calem is the one we want to make sure he is right so he doesn't break down."

Drammeh has yet to feature since his summer move following his exit from Sevilla B while the club have gone with Craig Gordon and Zander Clark as the senior goalkeepers with Coupar Wilkie as the third option. Not selecting Fulton gives the team another outfield option.

Hearts were limited to 22 first-team players because of UEFA conditions on the squad list. Of the 25 players over the age of 21 that can be named, four have to be club-trained. But since Craig Gordon is the only player who fits the criteria, the club are penalised with the other three spots.

There are plenty of options on the B list of players under the age of 21, including Finlay Pollock, Macaulay Tait and James Wilson. All three are classed by Steven Naismith as first-team players.
