Liam Fox is hopeful that Finlay Pollock will be involved with Heart of Midlothian's first team for this afternoon's clash with Dundee United after missing yesterday's B team fixture.

Hearts B drew 0-0 with Cumbernauld Colts at Broadwood on Saturday afternoon while Steven Naismith's side go in search of their first win of the season as they welcome United to Tynecastle Park in the Scottish Premiership.

Pollock, who has been in outstanding form for the B team, was on the bench for both European games this season but hasn't made a first-team appearance since the Edinburgh derby in February.

“I’m hoping he will be involved with the first team squad, he trained with them [on Saturday] and should be involved [Sunday] which is good for him," Fox told Hearts Standard.

As for the draw, Fox was left frustrated after a strong showing only left his team with one point. The Wee Jambos created a number of chances throughout the match.

“The best way to describe it is, frustration," he said. "I thought the majority of that game we were really, really good. We passed the ball well, we pressed really well, played forward quickly and created a number of chances.

"There is a level of frustration but I am pleased with large aspects of the performance. But the reality is I want the players to get the rewards for those good parts, but we just didn’t seem to get the final bit right, but if we keep that level we will definitely score more goals in the upcoming weeks."

Although there was frustration at one end, Fox was happy to see his side record a first competitive clean sheet this season.

The B team coach hailed his centre-backs Kai Smutek and Lucas Smith and an "outstanding" Macaulay Tait

“First time in a while," he said of the clean sheet. "It was something we spoke about a lot this week.

"I thought the two centre-backs and Macaulay Tait were outstanding, and those three gave us a really good platform. They were alive to everything, made contact very well and they were aggressive and passed the ball really well at times.

"It was a good improvement, especially from the two centre backs who have had a difficult time over the last two months so I was really pleased for them."
