Kenneth Vargas failed to add to his six Costa Rica caps in the latest international window.

The Heart of Midlothian forward didn't feature in Los Ticos' 3-0 win over Guadeloupe or 0-0 draw with Guatemala in the CONCACAF Nations League.

Costa Rica are currently under interim charge after Gustavo Alfaro took over Paraguay. Caretaker boss Claudio Vivas revealed that not only was Vargas absent from the win over Guadeloupe with an injury but he missed the trip to Guatemala due to an "administrative error".

“Kenneth Vargas was left out of the list last Thursday due to injury, he was not 100% fit,” he said.

“[The Guatemala situation] was an administrative difficulty, which we will explain in more detail later, we worked on the situation, but it was an administrative error."

Local reports suggest it was a registration error with Vargas not included in the list of admissible players for the match.

Meanwhile, Gerald Taylor started the draw with Guatemala earning his eighth international cap.

The duo are expected back at Hearts this week ahead of Saturday's trip to Celtic Park.
