Heart of Midlothian are in all likelihood one point away from qualifying for the Conference League knockout stage.

The 2-0 win over Omonia Nicosia at Tynecastle Park on Thursday night took the team onto six points in the league phase, adding to the 2-1 victory in Azerbaijan against Dinamo Minsk.

As things stand, Hearts are sixth in the 36-team league, tucked between Vitoria de Guimaraes and Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Neil Critchley's side need to finish in the top 24 to secure a berth in the knockout phase after Christmas. Should the team finish in the top eight they will automatically reach the last-16.

Finishing between ninth and 24th would see Hearts enter the knockout phase play-offs. They would play a two-legged tie in February for a chance to progress to the last-16.

According to Football Rankings, Hearts have a 95.4 per cent chance of finishing in the top 24. Calculations gave them a 33 per cent chance prior to the start of the league phase. That increased to 59 per cent after the win over Dinamo Minsk and it has now increased significantly more.

The simulations currently have Hearts finishing 16th in the league phase. That would be good enough to be seeded for the knockout round. The chances of remaining in the top 16 are put at 54.4 per cent while a top eight finish is viewed as 11.4 per cent.

It has been a hugely productive European campaign so far for the club. While they missed out on the Europa League in the play-off, they have already made more than £4.5million through participation and prize money. That figure doesn't include ticket sales.

In addition, Hearts have added 4.000 points to their club coefficient, the same number they earned in their previous Conference League group stage appearance. It means their points total is now 10.500 with scope to add even more. That figure is important in future European campaigns. The higher it is the more likely the team will be seeded.
