Former Heart of Midlothian manager and captain Gary Locke is one of seven candidates standing for the Foundation of Hearts board election.
The club's majority shareholder has three board spots open. Louise Strutt and Andrew Brown are standing down from their positions having served the maximum term, while current chairman Gerry Mallon is standing for re-election.
As well as Mallon and Locke, the other candidates are Paul Butler, Claire Hammond, Gerry Mallon, Diane Scougall, Douglas Shirlaw and James Sloggie.
Since the announcement yesterday, one candidate, Scott McIntosh, has opted to pull out due to "a couple of incidents" prior to voting starting that has made him feel "uncomfortable with the process".
"I just wanted to let people know that I have notified FOH of my wish to pull out of the upcoming election," he posted on Twitter. "It was my intent to run a positive campaign which focussed purely on my love for the club and desire to try and give something back for all the years of joy and comfort being a hearts fan has brought me especially when I have struggled with my mental health.
"However there have been a couple of incidents before the voting has even started that have made me uncomfortable with the process.
"I will remain off this platform over the coming weeks as it’s imperative that the election focusses on the positives and I wish the other candidates all the very best.
"A big thank you to everyone who nominated and apologies for not being able to see this through. I love the concept of the FOH and will always pledge."
Foundation of Hearts reached out to members earlier this year to call for nominations for the board with eight going forward.
FOH hopes to commence the election at the start of next month.
"If you have any questions that you would like to put to any or all of the candidates, we will do our best to seek answers from them," the website said. "Please address any questions to elections@foundationofhearts.org
"It is our hope that the election will commence on 1 November and you should look out for an email enabling you to vote in the election. You may vote for up to three candidates but you may not vote for a single candidate more than once.
"If you have any questions about the election process, please send them to elections@foundationofhearts.org."
