Heart of Midlothian have confirmed the appointment of a new B team head coach.

Angus Beith has been made permanent boss having taken the interim role following Liam Fox's move into the first-team fold, first as interim head coach and then part of Neil Critchley's management team.

The 28-year-old is highly thought of at Hearts having made into background roles after retiring from football aged 23 due to injuries. Beith was an academy graduate at Tynecastle Park and made three first-team appearances but a recurring hip issue forced him to call time on his career.

He has experience of working as tactical analyst for the first-team and as the head of the club's performance school at Balerno. Beith became part of Fox's coaching staff for the B team in the summer after time with the under-18s.

“I’m very pleased to be given the honour and opportunity to lead the B Team," Beith told the club's website.

“I have a good relationship with the squad having coached many of them at youth level and that familiarity has only heightened after working closely with them this season.

“I feel well-placed to know what it takes to make the transition from youth sides into the first team, having made that same journey myself as a young player.

“My focus now is helping these players to reach their potential and I will put everything into it.”
